The best and easiest way we have found to get to Surat Thani Airport from Koh Phangan is to take either the Lomprayah Ferry or Raja Ferry.
Raja Ferry will take a bit longer, but it is cheaper by about 300 baht.
Here is how to get there.
- Take Raja Ferry or Lomprayah Ferry from Thong Sala Pier, Koh Phangan to Donsak Pier, Surat Thani.
- Take the van/bus transfer to Surat Thani Airport.
That’s it! Super easy.
Lomprayah Ferry Times from Koh Phangan to Donsak Pier:
- 7:15 am
Raja Ferry Times from Koh Phangan to Donsak Pier:
- Lomprayah Ferry + Airport Transfer is ~800 Baht
- Raja Ferry + Airport Transfer is ~500 Baht
EXTRA NOTES & TIPS
The ferry ticket can be purchased ahead of time on-line or at the ticket booth at the entrance into the pier. Personally, I prefer to have the actual ticket instead of a print-out whenever possible. It makes me feel a little more secure because many parts of Thailand still functions on the low-tech, old-fashioned way of doing things. The people working at the docks seem to be a lot more comfortable dealing with physical tickets than cell phone screen confirmations or even a print-out of a ticket.
I usually buy my ticket at the ticket booth either the day before or the same day.
If you are traveling around full-moon party time, I would recommend purchasing the ticket at least one day ahead. If you’re purchasing your ticket on-line, you’ll need to make sure you find a place that can print it for you before your day of travel.
